I’m honored to represent you
on the Board of Supervisors. These are challenging times where
experience and leadership matter. Contra Costa County is making sound
budgeting decisions due to our strong AAA financial rating, but
so many of our residents and businesses are hurting.
Protecting residents’ health
and safety remains our top priority.
Requiring masks, social distancing and creating policies for stores,
small businesses and restaurants to open safely is crucial. The County
operates numerous free COVID-19 testing sites and has added more
hospital beds.
Assistance for Seniors and
Unemployed Residents
– We have increased no-cost food supplies for those affected by the
pandemic; created policies to prevent rental evictions; and, provided
access to unemployment, also for self-employed individuals.
As the first African American to
serve on the Board of Supervisors, I support the elimination of
racial bias in our communities.
I am concerned about the State’s
release of prisoners due to COVID-19.
Assisting victims of domestic
violence, we’ve opened three Family Justice Centers.
Working closely with the District Attorney’s Office, we’ve increased
efforts to arrest and convict domestic, child and elderly abusers, as
well as human traffickers.
Ensuring our Contra Costa County
voting system is hack-proof,
we’ve purchased a new state-of-the-art voting system to increase
privacy and safety – especially for mail-in ballots.
I’m proud to be supported by our firefighters, police, deputy sheriffs,
local elected leaders, and others. I would be honored to earn your vote
so we can continue to meet our challenges together.
